Bought a macbook

Crazy. After all this time, I finally took the plunge and got a macbook with all its DRM-encrusted goodness. Comes with all the silly white plastic molded pieces one expects from Apple. The aluminum case is terrific. Overall I am very impressed. Many configuration items are fairly automatic which means a good bit less tinkering.

I've always been a UNIX programmer which is why I've stuck to Linux for so long. Underneath OS-X is UNIX (BSD). Open a terminal and you have a bash session. Type "ps -ax" and viola, all your processes are displayed. Slick. I am going to try Ubuntu in a Parallels virtual machine. Probably easier than trying to install the entire GNU development toolchain into OS-X.
